5 ICONIC HORROR FILMS TO REWATCH THIS HALLOWEEN

Halloween is coming and with it the whiff of fear (or in our case, the light scent of milk and honey slides). Time to snuggle under a blanket, switch off the lights and watch the scariest film you can find on Netflix.

If you’re struggling to pick a movie to haunt your dreams tonight, here are some all-time favorites you can always fall back on. You know, films we had to sneak past our parents to watch at night as kids.

We love these iconic horrors because they each brought something new to the genre and to cinema in general. Of course, we had to match these classics with some killer slides (pun intended). Now hang on to your knickers and get ready for a seriously spooky nostalgia trip.

IN SPACE, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM

In 1979, Ridley Scott brought together a powerhouse creative team to show us just how scary space could be. While Alien wasn’t the first sci-fi horror film to be released, nothing quite scared us like seeing an alien that can bleed acid. Remember when movie producers could trick us into thinking that tubes and milk were robotic body parts?

Even after so many years, we look back with artistic respect to H.R. Giger, the designer of the alien and to the other great minds that came together to make this film. If we could add just one thing to the experience, it would be the yellow Acid slides, a great reminder not to go on that space shuttle just yet.

RELAX, TAKE A SHOWER

Legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock was always a chilling director, but no one was ready for Psycho. Even now, any shower scene is in some way a reference to the iconic scares of this one (did you know that this was Hollywood’s first scene with a toilet?).

In a world filled with colors, what’s amazing about this film is how much it was able to do in just black and white. We don’t question for a second that the chocolate syrup going down the drain is blood. And we like to imagine that if the killer were wearing Freedom Moses slides, the blood splatter would look just like this.

WHO WILL SURVIVE AND WHAT WILL BE LEFT OF US?

This film made everyone terrified of chainsaws in 1974. To this day, when we hear that visceral sound that chills our bones we naturally think of hulking brutes wearing human skin masks. Texas Chainsaw Massacre was banned in some countries at the time, but now it’s an influential film in the modern horror genre.

We love this film for the pure shock-value trip it brings. Once it starts going, it doesn’t stop until the credits roll. Also, the gore looks so real, we quickly forget about the little tricks of slasher films. If you go with this one tonight, be sure to lock the doors and double check the alarm. Just in case.

I’M NEVER GOING INTO THE WATER AGAIN

Jaws is one of the blockbuster films we really wish we could have seen on the big screen in 1975. We don’t think we’d be exaggerating if we said that seeing Chrissie Watkins get dragged under the waves was one of the scariest, most realistic moments in horror history.

These Lagoon Slides are our answer to the opening scene, where everything seems so chill and peaceful, right before it all goes to ocean hell.

THE TWISTED MIND OF A KILLER

While some villains had class (we’re talking about you, Dracula), none got under our skin quite like Dr. Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs. One moment he’d be psychoanalyzing us, the viewers. And the next, recalling how he ate a census taker’s liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti. Spine chilling.

We couldn't think of a more appropriate way to celebrate one of the greatest murderers ever depicted on screen - played by one of the greatest actors of our time - than with the elegant, luxurious Opera slides.
